Three quotes guide my life: 1. Be the change you want to see in the world Mahatma Ghandi; 2. Live such that when people think of kindness, caring, and integrity they think of you unknown; 3. The ocean is made of drops Mother Teresa. To me this means I do not have to do everything, be everything, impersonate Wonder Woman, I just have to live my life to the best of my ability. This is why I practice yoga. As a mother of three and a recovering perfectionist, I struggle every day against my drive to do, be, and get it all done. In my desire to be the best mother, high school teacher, gymnastics coach and U.S. Army sergeant that I can be, time and time again I found myself sacrificing my own needs and sublimating who I was for what I thought I should do and who I thought I should be. On my mat, it is just me, doing what is best for my mind, breath, and body; I am connected to my own needs and desires. I find peace and a sense of balance for all the plates that are spinning in my daily life. This is why I love yoga.Yoga is the perfect blending of mind, body, and spirit (breath) at any age. Young and old alike can benefit from the healing balance that it brings to mind and body. I am a teacher; it is my identity, my calling, my passion. Since I first walked onto a mat, just after the birth of my first child, it has been my secret dream to become a yoga instructor.I am forever grateful to Ruthann, Grace, Debra, and the yogis at the Zen Zone who inspired me to take the first steps in the direction of my dream, and become a small part of the change that I want to see in the world — Namaste.
